Mary O’Reilly not only sees ghosts, but she solves their paranormal mysteries. And let me tell you, life with the paranormal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Dying is what changed Mary O’Reilly’s life. On a drug bust with the Chicago Police Department, Mary decided to step between a crazed drug dealer’s gun and her brother, Sean.
While in surgery at Cook County Hospital for a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Mary had a near-death experience. She heard a voice call her name and then give her a choice. She could continue to the light, or go back and be with her family – but things would be different if she chose to go back. Looking down at her family in the waiting room, she knew she had to go back. Her brother would never forgive himself if she died. She made her choice – not really understanding the consequences.
Now, living in the small Midwestern town of Freeport, Illinois, Mary’s life or death decision has changed her life. Because now she can see and communicate with dead people – ghosts. And her new vocation is to find out what’s keeping them from moving on and tying up all of their loose ends.
