Freaky Friday

Dear Terri,

I’m about at my wit’s end, so I thought I would write to you for advice. I’m trying to move on with my life, but my ex-husband is sabotaging me at every turn. Let me give you some examples:

I invited a new friend over for dinner. I made my famous pot roast, with those cute little potatoes and carrots cooked along with the roast. Before I went to shower and change, I checked on the roast and everything was perfect.  An hour later, when I checked again, the stove had been turned up to 500 degrees and everything was ruined.  I had to serve my friend TV dinners. It was a disaster.

I was supposed to meet another new friend for breakfast at a nearby restaurant. I made sure to set my alarm, and I even tested it to make sure it was loud enough before I went to bed.  The next morning, I woke up to find that I had overslept.  I looked around the room and couldn’t find the alarm clock at all. When I went downstairs, I discovered it inside the oven. I knew my ex was at it again.

I met a man at the Senior Center and we hit it off.  I invited him over for ice cream and a game of cards.  He came in and sat down. I went into the kitchen to dish up the ice cream.  When I came back, I saw him running down the sidewalk to his car.  I hurried to the door to call after him, but he just kept running.  I turned around and noticed that my ex’s gun cabinet was open, and all of the guns were lying on the dining room table.

But the last straw was last night. I actually went out on a date to the movies. I thought that being away from the house was the best way to handle things.  I had such a great time. My date walked me to the porch, and I pulled my keys out of my purse to open the door. But before I even got near to the door, it swung open and crashed against the inner wall.  It shocked my poor date, and he hurried away from the house before I could even get a chance to explain.  I know it was my ex-husband again.  And I know that he’s jealous and angry that I’m trying to move on with my life.

I really don’t know what to do next!

Oh, perhaps I should mention, my ex died about two years ago.

Sincerely,

Haunted in Houston

Happy Friday!
